Search Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered into a lookup form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Downey Residents Directory servers keep no copy of those search entries. If you email the site, the message content is visible to the operator so a reply can be prepared.
Routine Technical Logs
Ordinary hosting systems may record an IP address, browser type, requested pages, and timestamps in server logs. Aggregate review can help keep the pages available and show which Downey records topics readers use. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics or, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How the Information Is Used
Automatic data is used to operate the pages, troubleshoot faults, measure general traffic, and improve the reference. The service does not sell visitor lists or build individual user profiles. No Downey, Los Angeles County, or California government record is stored here.
Outside Portals and Tools
Pages may link to the Los Angeles County Assessor, Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk, Superior Court, Downey City Clerk, California election and vital-record offices, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Each outside service has its own privacy rules. Those rules govern information submitted there, including the sponsored result tools supplied by another company.
Who May Process It
Hosting and technical service providers may process ordinary server logs while supporting the pages. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. Information may also be disclosed when a valid legal process requires it; otherwise, it is not shared as a visitor list.
Security and Retention
The pages use an encrypted connection. Hosting logs are kept only for as long as the purposes above require, subject to ordinary provider practices. There are no user accounts, passwords, or personal profiles on Downey Residents Directory to expose through an account breach.
Children and Minors
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent information to the operator, use the Contact page so the message can be reviewed and deleted when appropriate.
California Privacy Choices
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), Civil Code § 1798.100 et seq., may give qualifying California consumers rights to know or access personal information, correct it, delete it, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain sensitive-information uses, and receive equal treatment. Global Privacy Control is honored where applicable. Because this service keeps no copy of search-form entries and has no account database, a request about information actually held here may be limited to a contact mailbox or available hosting logs.
Use the Contact page for a request. Records held by the City of Downey, Los Angeles County, California courts, elections offices, vital-record custodians, or libraries are outside this service's control. To correct a source record, contact the custodian that created or maintains it. For registered data brokers, the California Delete Act / DROP, Civil Code § 1798.99.80 et seq., provide one free request to 500+ registered brokers beginning January 1, 2026; brokers begin processing those requests August 1, 2026. Where applicable, use the official DROP service and keep its confirmation. DROP does not rewrite the source government record.
People who qualify for California's Safe at Home program may seek a substitute mailing address and confidential voter registration under Government Code §§ 6205-6216. Enrollment goes through a designated agency or application assistant, and the program does not erase older public records. See the California Secretary of State Safe at Home information for the official route.
Changes to This Policy
